MEN'S HOOPS CAPTURES 69-67 GNAC WIN OVER LIONS

Thursday, January 19, 2012 (Boston, Massachusetts) - Behind a 30 point performance from senior guard Keith Jones (Boston, MA/Lake Brantley (FL)/Mass. Bay C.C.), the Mount Ida College men's basketball team snapped a two game Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) skid with a 69-67 victory over hosting Emerson College Thursday evening in downtown Boston, Massachusetts. 

The Mustangs improve to a 5-9 overall record standing at 2-5 in league play while the Lions continue to struggle falling to 1-14 for the year, 1-8 in conference competition.

Along with Jones, Mount Ida saw two double-doubles led by senior Jeffrey McNair (Brockton, MA/Brockton) adding 14 points and 10 rebounds while senior forward Travis Hillery (Tyngsboro, MA/Central Catholic) chipped in 12 points and 10 caroms.  Senior guard Isiah Benjamin (Windsor, CT/The Masters School) added 12 points and six assists respectively.

Mount Ida shot the ball much better this time around going 47 percent from the floor and 36 percent from downtown.  Jones was an impressive 10-17 for the night going 4-9 from beyond the arc and a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe. 

The Mustangs will travel to conference foe Rivier College Saturday afternoon in Nashua, New Hampshire with game time slated for 1:00 p.m.
