DANBURY, Conn. -- Sophomore kicker Tyler Rodgers (Bridgewater, Mass.) has been selected by the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) as the Special Teams Player of the Week for the Northeast Region of Division III.
Rodgers, who has already been cited for the same accolade by the Eastern Collegiate Football Confernece (ECFC), helped deliever a 7-6 victory for the Mustangs over ECFC foe SUNY Maritime last Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field. His two-yard rush on a fake field goal and subsequent point after were all the scoring that Mount Ida would need to pick up their first victory of the season.
The Mustang defense limited the Privateers to just 21 yards through the air, and the offense held the ball for nearly 11 minutes on their final drive in the fourth quarter to kill off the game.
Rodgers also kicked off twice in the game, averaging 52.0 yards on each kick.
He and the Mustangs will travel to Norwich this weekend for a 1:00 pm ECFC contest.
