Laura Halfpenny was one of the top players in Mount Ida College women’s soccer program history, starting for the Mustangs from 1997-2000 during the College’s transition from a junior college to a four-year NCAA Division III institution.
The midfielder racked up a program record with 68 goals over her career, including a Mount Ida single season best 34 scores as a senior. Halfpenny garnered numerous awards for her contributions both on and off the playing field. After graduating in 2001 as the College’s Valedictorian, she joined the Mount Ida Athletics staff as a coach and administrator for four years.
Laura holds school records for goals in a game (6), goals in a season (34), and career goals (68) and was a three time team Captain. She also served as head coach of Mount Ida’s women’s soccer squad in 2003 and 2004. Prior to taking the lead, she was an assistant coach with the team in 2001 and 2002.
